Qur’an & Tajweed Syllabus
Our Qur’an & Tajweed syllabus is designed to build students’ skills in four main stages:
Level 1
Foundations of Qur’an Reading (Beginner)
Focus: Recognising letters, forming words, and building reading fluency
Arabic alphabet recognition and pronunciation
Letter shapes in initial, medial, and final positions
Short vowels (fatha, kasra, dhamma)
Sukoon, shaddah, tanween introduction
Connecting letters into words
Basic daily du’as and short surahs (e.g. Surah Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas)
Level 2
Basic Tajweed & Fluency (Early Reader)
Focus: Reading simple verses accurately and beginning tajweed
Reading short sentences and full verses
Introduction to Tajweed:
Madd (elongation rules)
Qalqalah (echoing letters)
Noon Saakin and Tanween rules (Idghaam, Iqlaab, Ikhfaa)
Surah memorisation:
Surahs from Juz Amma (e.g. Al-Falaq, An-Nas, Al-Kawthar, Al-Asr)
Understanding basic meanings of key surahs and vocabulary
Level 3
Intermediate Tajweed & Hifdh (Developing Reader)
Focus: Improving recitation with tajweed and memorising longer surahs
Mastering basic tajweed rules
Rules of Meem Saakin and Laam
Stopping and starting symbols (Waqf signs)
Hifdh of longer surahs:
Surah Al-Mulk, Surah Yaseen (selected ayahs), Surah Al-Qadr, etc.
Simple tafsir of memorised surahs
Reflection and discussion of moral lessons
Level 4
Advanced Recitation & Memorisation (Proficient Reader)
Focus: Fluent, beautified recitation and deep understanding
Fluency in reading any part of the Qur’an
Advanced tajweed:
Makharij (articulation points)
Ghunnah (nasalisation), Idghaam rules (with/without ghunnah)
Rules of stopping (Waqf rules) and Hamzatul Wasl
Continued memorisation (Juz Tabarak, Juz Amma, selections from Juz 1–5)
Deeper tafsir and real-life application
Public recitation and Qur’an competition preparation
📝 Assessment & Progression
Ongoing assessment based on reading fluency, tajweed accuracy, and hifdh retention
Progress journals to track individual student milestones
Certificates awarded at the end of each level
Parent feedback each term to show learning goals and achievements

Tajweed
Learn How To Read Al-Qur'an
This book is a beginner-friendly book that teaches how to read the Qur’an. It introduces the Arabic letters, pronunciation and vowel marks step by step, making it easy for learners to progress toward fluent reading.
Tajweed Sixteenth Session
This book explains proper pronunciation, articulation points of letters (Makharij) and rules such as elongation (Madd), merging (Idgham) and pauses, guiding students step by step to improve fluency and accuracy in Quranic recitation.
Rokhani
This is a book designed to help learners master Tajweed rules and read the Qur’an fluently. It guides students on proper pronunciation, articulation of letters and correct rhythm, enabling confident and accurate recitation.
